About Me
My name is Nathan Brown. I’m an artist, a graphic designer, a musician, a mediocre cook, a husband, a father, and a student of life. I enjoy traveling the world, but I always long for my home town of Paducah, where I revel in family traditions and the rich culture of Kentucky’s Western Waterways. I’m dedicated to my community, and hope to serve those around me in all things related to creativity, authentic living, heritage, and the arts.
I believe self-expression is the greatest gift each of us can share with the world. The act of sharing the air we breathe with all the creatures on earth engages us, unifies us, and casts us in this cosmic play we call life. In this life, we all play a part. Individualism is our duty.
I believe that when we integrate hand-made artisanal items into our everyday lives, we enhance our participation and begin living with intention. Art is an investment, not only in the micro-economies of artists, galleries, and the health of our communities, but in the very soul of us all.
I am a functional potter. My art is meant to be used. My vessels reflect the elements that connect us all. Earth. Texture. Movement. Fire. Water. Find a piece that speaks to you. Pick it up. Flip it over. Hold it. Imagine these pieces being used how they were intended. Warmed with nourishment. Held close to the heart. Felt with hands. Touched with mouths. Used to serve our friends and families. This work is hand-made, personal, intimate, and intended to be shared.
